Mission and Goals

Mission Statement:

History

The Yukon Aurora All-Stars team has been developed as a result of discussion about the lack of competitive women's soccer in Whitehorse. From the start the team managers have received strong support from the soccer community. Dave White has been organizing practices for the development team since the beginning of May with assistance from members of the Yukon Selects.

Turnout for practices has been excellent with positive comments from all participants. Until now, many of the team members have not had the opportunity to improve their soccer skills since they played as youth in minor soccer or at University. In fact, almost half of the development team members were born and raised in Yukon and played on local representative teams.

We received an invitation to participate in the 10th annual Kamloops Invitational Soccer Tournament, August 5th, 6th and 7th 2000. Try outs were held at the beginning of June and fourteen players were selected from the development team for the tournament. The fourteen members played exhibition games throughout the summer in preparation for the tournament. Players that did not make this travel team continued to practice with the objective of improving individual soccer skills, fitness, and making the next travel team.

The Team now has a board of players who help with fundraising and accounting. Organization and managing is now a team effort.
