Duties and Responsibilities
The Technical Director will be working under the direction of the Executive Board of the Yukon Soccer Association.
The candidate will assist with Program Planning for coaches of Yukon Representative Soccer Teams. She/He will attend Coaches Meetings and will actively share ideas and submit recommendations that will advance athlete performance in physical and competitive environments by increasing skill level, fitness level and motivation/attitude. This will include conducting Training Clinics as required and may include out-of-Territory travel with teams to tournaments. The Technical Director will review annual plans produced by existing Representative Team coaches to ensure goals are met and be available to assist when required.
In particular, the candidate will work closely on assisting in the development of:
To ensure that youths are able to progress with soccer beyond the recreational level if they so desire, the candidate will encourage new and potential coaches by discussing expectations, coaching levels, available resources and avenues of assistance.
To assist in raising the level of coaching in the Yukon, the candidate will conduct C.S.A. approved Coaching Clinics in Whitehorse and as required in the communities.
To increase interest, awareness and skill levels in recreational soccer, the candidate will work closely with Yukon Soccer Association Affiliates including Whitehorse Minor Soccer, the Mens League, the Womens League, and community affiliates to assess needs, plan programs, plan and schedule tournaments and will conduct training camps and clinics as required.
In July/August, the Candidate will conduct clinics in (but not restricted to) Mayo, Dawson City and Watson Lake.
Ideally the candidate will be active in the development and delivery of soccer in the public schools in Whitehorse
The candidate will establish a Soccer Resource Centre for coaches, players and parents by compiling and disseminating information on such subjects as College and University programs, out-of-Territory soccer camps, clinics and coaches, funding avenues, scholarships, etc.
Working closely with and following the instructions of Yukons contracted visiting coach, the candidate will follow through by completing long range plans, preparing progress reports and assisting this coach as required.
The candidate will possess the ability to and may assist with, the organization and scheduling of local tournaments and fundraising events and will be required to bring new and innovative ideas that will assist local athletes and coaches to perform to optimal standards and motivate them to purse excellence in athletic competition.
This position will include the preparation of written program summarizations of current programming and suggestions and recommendations for future programming. Extensive technical and practical knowledge of both indoor and outdoor laws of soccer is required. Past team experience is a strong asset.
