First Whitehorse Executive formed - Leo Van Vugt is 1st President

May 6

First exhibition soccer game in Whitehorse

May 27

First official game in Whitehorse - Firth Canucks vs 918 Construction

 

918 Construction team is 1st Whitehorse League champions (25 wins/7 losses)

July 29

Elsa beats Whitehorse All-Stars 5-1 in first inter-community game held in Whitehorse.

Sept.1

First community games held in Elsa. Taylor & Drury lost 4-2 to Calumet, Firth Canucks lost 5-1 to Elsa

Sept.9

Firth Canucks become 1st Whitehorse soccer playoffs champions. They beat Taylor & Drury 5-2 in the final.

July 7/8

Whitehorse, Elsa and Cassiar play for Yukon Cup

Soccer Association first registered as a Society - Norm Chamberlist is the President

President is Ron Stevenson - Elsa wins the Yukon Cup.

1966

 

July 1

First game on a grass field at F.H.Collins Secondary School

President is Alex Dickson. Junior Soccer School planned

Yukon wins Alaska All-City Cup - Franz Langbank is organizer

1973

 
 

Yukon Senior Men's team play Vancouver Firefighters in Canadian Senior Men's Championship. They lost the game 6-1.

 

Yukon Men's team competes at the Canada Games for the first time. The Games were held in B.C.

Inuvik, NWT plays in Whitehorse for the first time.

Yukon Men's team competes at the Canada Games for the second time.

 

Whitehorse Minor Soccer Association founded

1983

 

Feb.7

Yukon Youth Soccer Association incorporated. Prior to this date,.Whitehorse Minor Soccer and Yukon Soccer had same Executive and Board of Directors.

1984

 

May 23

Women's Soccer begins in Whitehorse. Joanne Hillier is President

1995

 

Aug. 17

Yukon Youth Soccer Association becomes Yukon Soccer Association (all soccer organizations in Yukon under one governing body). Dave Stockdale is first President.

Yukon Soccer Association joins the Canadian Soccer Association

1998

 

July 31

1st Gold Rush Invitational Soccer Tournament held - to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Yukon Gold Rush.

 

Mayo takes a team to the Super Soccer Tournament in Yellowknife for the first time - coached by Bernard Menelon

1999

 

April 22

Whitehorse Women's Soccer Association is incorporated - first President is Angelique Bernard.
