A note from the President of Whitehorse Minor Soccer

If your yard looks the same as mine or any of the soccer fields around town you will understand why we have been busy working
with the City of Whitehorse and the Department of Education as we work to find space for our kids to play soccer.

The outdoor season which starts next week will start indoors until we can get onto the fields, as of right now that is looking like it will be mid to late May (do your sunshine dance as we need a number of really warm days to not only melt the snow but to dry off the fields and thaw the ice in the ground so that the fields are then safe to play on). Lisa has been busy putting together a schedule for your child’s soccer team to get them as much playing time as we can until we get outdoors.

Unfortunately due to the limited space and times available, we have had to juggle some of the spots around - a special thanks to all of our coaches for all that they do for our kid’s soccer experiences and for also being more flexible with the modified schedule.
The attached schedule covers the month of May with the new times and indoor locations for the teams. If the "snow dance" works and the fields are ready before the end of May we will move outdoors and will be on the original outdoor schedule.

For the players in our Premier program, due to the limited space, we will be keeping our programming to Fridays and Sunday until we can get outdoors and move to the planned midweek times to then free up everyone’s weekends.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Whitehorse Minor Soccer,
we want to thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation as we
work towards another fun season of soccer for all of our kids.

Michael Lauer
President, Whitehorse Minor Soccer

FITNESS TAX CREDITS 2017

Federal Government Ends Tax Credits Jan 1 2017
In April 2016, the federal government announced that they were ending the Fitness Tax Credit program in the 2017 tax year. Credits are applied to the taxation year in which transactions are made so a purchase made on Dec 31, 2016 would count in the 2016 tax year and would still be eligible for credit. But as of January 1, 2017, registrations are not eligible for tax credits because they fall in the 2017 tax year. As a result, Zone4 has stopped issuing tax credit receipts on Jan 1st 2017.

For more information on the changes to the Fitness Tax Credit program and the budget descision, please see here: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/gncy/bdgt/2016/qa06-eng.html
