Masters Coed Outdoor Soccer 1999
What?
A four-team cross field league. Six aside (five and a goalie). After a 40 minute game,
the winners and losers play off for a second 40 minutes. Unlimited substitution.
When an Where?
Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 25-June 22 at 9 pm, June 24-August 19 at 7 pm. Optional
full field scrimmages with worthy opponents, Sundays at 7. Everything always at George
White (Vanier, formerly Riverdale, formerly Jekyll).
Who?
Men and women over 35. Younger women. Younger men as long as they are not physically
or technically dominant.
How Much?
$40 covers insurance, Yukon Soccer Association fee, and equipment. Cash or cheque payable to Masters Coed soccer.
Why?
Fun and exercise. Youth soccer coaches who have never played will find this an excellent
way to deepen their understanding of the game. There is the potential of travelling
to play other Masters.
How?
Shinpads are mandatory. Equal time is sacred. Everyone helps maintain a positive atmosphere. No slide tackles, even by goalies. No shoulder-to-shoulder contact. No violent tackles even when you contact the ball before the player. If a player is down, the play stops. The goalie has possession when his-her arm or hand is in continuous contact with the ball. But because the rep teams need competition, when we scrimmage them (participation optional), we play by their rules, with legal contact. We will not be scrimmaging the older boys rep teams.
