In the first three indoor seasons, we were restricted to small gyms at Vanier and Selkirk. We began 2002-03 with Selkirk and the large gym in Vanier. Two rule variations were needed and were developed. We will also be using those two variations at the Multiplex, depending on whether we are using a large (2/3 or whole fieldhouse) or small (1/3 of fieldhouse) space. Under both variations, there must be one woman on the floor for each team at all times. After a player scores two goals, subsequent goals have less value (see our scoring sheet). No contact, no rough play, and no referees. The ball is in play even when it bounces off a wall, the ceiling, basketball hoops, any object in the gym or any person on the stage. This keeps the game moving. Players call their own fouls. Handballs are not called unless the offending team has an advantage.
Small Gym Format
In the small gyms, our game differs from most indoor versions. We
play four-a-side with unlimited substitution on the fly. There are no goalies.
Instead we use specially designed nets which are lower than knee height. The ball is dead when it lands on top of a net, or on the stage. It is always given to the defending team regardless of who touched it last.

Large Gym Format
In the large gyms, we play five-a-side, four plus goalie, with unlimited substitution on the fly. A player who scores automatically becomes goalie for five minutes. There is no off-limits crease. The arc serves a different purpose. Goalies try to keep one foot in the arc when handling the ball. There is a one-step ring of safety around a goalie who is handling the ball. Goalies may throw or kick the ball in any fashion.
